Goodbye Flat Biology is a Conference Series of the European Association for Cancer Research that brings together scientists interested in the techniques and applications of 3D culture systems in cancer biology. The meeting is held in the historical Harnack House, conference venue of the Max Planck Society and meeting point of some of the most renowned scientists of the last two centuries. This year, Georgios (George) Efthymiou, a 3rd year SignaLife PhD student in the iBV team led by Ellen Van Obberghen-Schilling, was selected for an oral flash presentation of his work and awarded the Cellular Oncology Poster Prize. George’s studies focus on the regulation of cellular processes by specific isoforms of fibronectin, a key component of the tumor stroma.
