Mikko Karttunen is focused on biological & soft matter, in particular the interface between materials science, biology & biomedical sciences. Mikko is interested in problems such as lipid diffusion, sterols, bacterial toxins, membrane proteins, antibiotics, translocation of DNA, peptides and sugars. He is also working on magentic materials, pattern formation and non-equilibrium dynamics. Typically, Mikko employs theory and large scale computer simulations combined with analytical studies, the development and use of Machine Learning and AI methods, and their applications.
