Emily is a 3rd-year doctoral student at the iBV, working in the team “Polarized growth in yeast”. She recently captivated our PhD Club with a presentation on fungal pathogens titled “The Underrecognized and Emerging Threat: On us, around us, and beneath our feet”. Emily holds a personal passion for the field of fungi, tracing back to many days exploring the forest floors during her previous studies in South Carolina. She continues to expand this passion at the iBV by delving into the realm of antifungal drug response. During her presentation, Emily shed light on the often-overlooked world of fungal pathogens, unveiling the vast impact that these organisms have across society.
