Julie is a 1st year PhD student in Dr. Andreas Schedl’s team, studying the embryonic development of Müllerian duct and the molecular functions of a gene named Greb1l.

For her first PhD club talk, she presented the single-molecule RNA visualization technique, smFISH (single molecule Fluorescent In Situ Hybridisation). She presented her work from a previous internship carried out on zebrafish scale regeneration, where smFISH was used to visualize signals during the scale regeneration process. She discussed with the audience, her optimized protocols and the possibility of adapting the technique to her current PhD project.
