As a 4th-year PhD candidate working in Bruno Hudry’s lab, Chloé is focusing her efforts on improving our understanding of sex determination pathways. Conventionally, cells have been known to be influenced by sex chromosomes, which have been well-studied in relation to their role in sex organ development. However, Chloé’s current research is centered on uncovering whether somatic cells and tissues can perceive their own sexual identity and how this perception affects their behaviour. Along this line, she has characterized a novel non-canonical pathway for determining sex and has demonstrated its involvement in physiological contexts that underlie sex-related differences in somatic tissues. To gain more insights into her ambitious work, feel free to consult her presentation on the iBV common server.
