The Institut de Biologie Valrose took an active part in InScience 2025, a science outreach event held from May 13 to 17 across Corsica. The event was organized by Inserm, in partnership with the Collectivité de Corse, the University of Corsica, the IRD, and the Maison des Sciences de Bastia.
Four researchers from iBV – Nathalie Billon, Aline Chessel, Nadine Gauthier, and Isabelle Satney – were fully engaged during four days of activities, leading hands-on science workshops for middle and high school students as well as the general public in Porto-Vecchio, Corte, and Bastia.
The program featured interactive, engaging, and educational workshops, designed to bring science to life and raise awareness on key topics in biology and health:
- Drosophila and genetics: microscope observations and an introduction to model organisms in research
- Nutrition and health: interactive quizzes and ranking drinks by their sugar content
- Sensory experiments: illusions and tests involving the five senses
- Health misinformation: identifying fake news and promoting critical thinking
These intense and enriching days helped bridge the gap between scientific research and the public, all in a warm and stimulating atmosphere.
The iBV participants warmly thank the people of Corsica for their hospitality, the students for their curiosity, and all visitors for their genuine interest in life sciences.

L’iBV en action en Corse pour InScience 2025 !
L’Institut de Biologie Valrose a participé activement à la semaine InScience 2025, un événement de médiation scientifique organisé du 13 au 17 mai en Corse par l’Inserm, en partenariat avec la Collectivité de Corse, l’Université de Corse, l’IRD, et la Maison des Sciences de Bastia.
Quatre chercheuses de l’iBV – Nathalie Billon, Aline Chessel, Nadine Gauthier et Isabelle Satney – se sont mobilisées pendant quatre jours pour animer des ateliers scientifiques auprès de collégiens, lycéens et du grand public à Porto-Vecchio, Corte et Bastia.
Au programme, des ateliers interactifs, ludiques et pédagogiques pour rendre la science vivante et sensibiliser à différents sujets liés à la biologie et à la santé :
- Drosophile et génétique: observation au microscope et découverte de la recherche sur les modèles animaux
- Alimentation et nutrition : quiz interactifs, classement de boissons selon leur teneur en sucre
- Expériences sensorielles : illusions et tests des 5 sens
- Fake news en santé : décryptage d’informations douteuses et sensibilisation à l’esprit critique
Ces journées, intenses et riches en échanges, ont permis de rapprocher la recherche du grand public, dans une ambiance conviviale et stimulante.
Les intervenantes de l’iBV saluent l’accueil chaleureux en Corse, la curiosité des élèves et l’intérêt des visiteurs pour les sciences du vivant.
Un grand merci à elles ainsi qu’à Florence Molinari, Sid Ahmed MEHALLI, et Nicolas Emmanuelli, organisateurs et intervenants de la délégation régionale Inserm Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur et Corse ! Leur mobilisation, leurs échanges avec le public, et leur enthousiasme communicatif ont pleinement participé à faire de cette manifestation un moment fort de partage entre science et société!
