Un grand merci aux membres de l’Institut de Biologie Valrose pour leur très forte mobilisation à l’occasion de la Semaine du Cerveau 2024 !
Au cœur de cette mobilisation, une classe de terminale du lycée du parc impérial a été chaleureusement accueillie au sein des laboratoires Besse et Studer. Sous la houlette de chercheurs et d’ingénieurs passionnés, les lycéens ont eu l’opportunité de plonger au cœur de la recherche en neurosciences à travers une série d’ateliers scientifiques captivants. De l’observation de neurones de drosophile et de tranches de cerveaux de souris au microscope, à la découverte des techniques d’extraction de l’ADN pour génotypage, cette immersion a permis aux élèves de saisir toute la richesse et la complexité du domaine. L’iBV a également animé pour ces lycéens l’escape Game Inserm « Cortex ». Dans la salle de conférence du centre de Biochimie, métamorphosée en terrain de jeu, les participants ont été confrontés à des énigmes et à des défis stimulants, tous centrés sur le fonctionnement du cerveau humain.
L’ensemble des manifestations a été clôturé par Guillaume Sandoz, qui a captivé l’audience avec sa conférence intitulée “La lumière pour télécommander la douleur et la contraction musculaire” donnée pour l’occasion le 19 Avril au pôle culturel de Villeneuve Loubet. Il a brillamment exposé le concept de bioélectricité, gouvernée par nos canaux ioniques, et de leur manipulation par des outils révolutionnaires qui utilisent la lumière pour traiter diverses maladies.
Cette mobilisation témoigne une fois encore de l’engagement des chercheurs de l’iBV en faveur de la vulgarisation scientifique et de la transmission des connaissances !

A big thank you to the members of the Valrose Institute of Biology for their huge commitment to the event “la semaine du cerveau” 2024!
At the heart of this mobilisation, a class from the Parc Impérial Lycée was warmly welcomed to the Institute’s laboratories. Under the guidance of enthusiastic researchers and engineers, the high school students had the opportunity to delve into the heart of neuroscience research through a series of captivating scientific workshops. From observing Drosophila neurons and slices of mouse brain under the microscope, to discovering DNA extraction techniques for genotyping, this immersion enabled the students to grasp the full complexity of the field. The iBV also hosted the Inserm “Cortex” escape game, set up for the occasion. In the conference room of the Biochemistry Centre, transformed into a playground, the participants were confronted with enigmas and stimulating challenges, all centered on the functioning of the human brain.
Last but not least, Guillaume Sandoz captivated the audience with his lecture “Using light to remotely control pain and muscle contraction”, which was held on 19 April at the Villeneuve Loubet cultural centre to round off all the semaine du cerveau events. He gave a brilliant presentation on the concept of bioelectricity, governed by our ion channels, and their manipulation by revolutionary tools that use light to treat various diseases.
This mobilisation once again testifies to the commitment of iBV researchers to popularising science and passing on knowledge!
