Antoine is a second-year PhD student in Florence Besse’s lab, where he studies the reorganization of F-actin cytoskeleton during aging in the axons and dendrites of Drosophila melanogaster.
For his first PhD club talk, Antoine presented the technique of expansion microscopy – an affordable and easy-to-implement method that enables visualization of subcellular structures at nanoscale resolution. This versatile technique achieves super-resolution by physically enlarging the biological sample, allowing researchers to investigate fine structures using standard microscopy equipment and without compromising spatial precision.
To learn more about this method, feel free to check out Antoine’s presentation on the IBV common server.
