From 2 to 4 October, iBV took part in the Science Festival on the Valrose campus, under the theme “Scientific Flavours”. Three days to discover biology in a different way, experiment, exchange ideas… and share a taste for science!

Once again, iBV staff turned out in force, with 22 members of the institute taking part in the event through five workshops focusing on food and our biological models — C. elegans, sea urchins, fruit flies and fungi — as well as a scientific Escape Game.

The first day was dedicated to school groups, with six classes from middle school to high school welcomed throughout the day. Over the weekend, it was time for the general public, with many visitors coming with their families to enjoy the activities and meet the scientists.

Located at the heart of the campus, right next to our laboratories, our stands were a great success, welcoming visitors eager to observe, handle, experiment and interact directly with our scientists. The Escape Game was particularly popular, with around twenty sessions and nearly 300 participants over the three days!

But the Science Festival is above all a collective adventure, one that starts well before the stands open! Designing the workshops and outreach activities, preparing the equipment, setting up, running the activities, talking with visitors and finally packing everything away… so many steps that brought everyone together to share our research beyond the walls of the laboratory!

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to this great edition, for their energy and enthusiasm!
