Melina, a 2nd-year PhD student in Dr. Andreas Schedl’s research group, took advantage of the club’s community of young researchers to present her work before attending the InOV8 meeting at the ReinCare congress.

The team has gained important insights into adrenal development and successfully developed an in vitro differentiation method using mouse embryonic stem cells that results in the production of glucocorticoid-producing adrenal aggregates. These latest results have just been published in Stem Cell Report.

Melina is currently focusing on adapting this model to human IPS cells, which will have far-reaching applications in various fields, including understanding physiological aspects of adrenal development or homeostasis and, more importantly, in pathological aspects such as cancer.

To delve deeper into Melina’s research, her presentation is available on the iBV common server.
