DESCRIPTION:From MBI\, Singapore \nwill give a seminar entitled : \nNew perspectives on cell-cell adhesion \n  \nAbstract : \nIn this presentation I will cover different aspects of cell-cell junction mechanics that my lab has been working on in the last 5 years. \nI will first present how we understand cell-cell adhesion in term of energy dissipation at junction rather than energy of adhesion. I will exemplify how cell regulate the viscosity of the cytoskeleton using E-cadherin dependent activation of EGFR. I will show how selectivity of cell-cell adhesion can be understood in term of matching the dynamics properties of the cytoskeleton between both adhesive cells rather than by selective adhesion of transmembrane binders. \nI will then present our model to study how intercellular lumens can form anisotropically between two cells. In this context I will detail the role of microenvironment on the directional growth of canaliculi. \nLastly\, I will present the high content imaging platform we develop to address the biomechanics of neighbor exchange and lumenogenesis in spatially controlled organoids (Gastruloids and liver). I will show how Neural networks can be trained on the large amount of data we can gather to quantify organoids morphologies from the sub cellular to whole organoid level.
