DESCRIPTION:From: CHU de Québec- Laval University Research Center (Québec\, Canada) \n  \nWill give a seminar entitled: \n\n  \nExploring how the microRNA-controlled gene regulatory pathway is regulated in animals \n\nSystematic studies using animal models have helped us uncover the different ways microRNAs regulate gene expression. For example\, using the roundworm Caenorhabditis elegans as an animal model\, we recently discovered the existence of different miRNA-induced Silencing complexes (or miRISC) in animals that affect targeted mRNAs in distinct ways. In our quest to understand what modulates microRNA functions\, we focus on identifying genetic and molecular partners\, as well as post-translational modifications of the Argonaute proteins\, the core component of the silencing complex. During this talk\, we will present our recent discoveries that identify new molecular features that control Argonautes and microRNA function in animals. \nSpeaker website
