SUMMARY:EMBO Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, the Valrose campus will host the prestigious EMBO Workshop – International D-Amino Acid Research (IDAR2026)\, which will take place from 23 to 26 August 2026\, co-organized by iBV. \nThe workshop focuses on D‑amino acids\, long overlooked but now recognized as key players in neuroscience\, immunology\, microbiology\, and medicine. Recent discoveries highlight their roles in synaptic plasticity\, microbiome interactions\, age-related protein modifications\, and potential involvement in neurodegeneration and cancer. \nChirality research is one of the main research axes at iBV\, focusing on the role of non-superimposable mirror-image shapes in life across biological scales\, with several research teams working at the molecular (Banreti)\, organ\, and organism levels (Noselli\, Furthauer\, Lepage). Research on D-amino acids is a central aspect of molecular chirality. \nThe workshop will provide participants the opportunity to: \n\nShare the latest scientific and methodological advances\,\nFoster interdisciplinary collaborations\,\nTrain and support early-career researchers in this rapidly evolving area.\n\nIDAR2026 is the largest international forum dedicated to D-amino acid research\, bringing together experts in structural biology\, analytical chemistry\, enzymology\, neuroscience\, immunology\, and translational medicine. Les découvertes récentes montrent que ces molécules interviennent dans la plasticité synaptique\, les interactions avec le microbiome\, les modifications protéiques liées à l’âge\, et pourraient être impliquées dans certaines maladies neurodégénératives et cancers. \nLa recherche sur la chiralité est l’un des axes principaux de recherche de l’iBV\, portant sur le rôle des formes images-miroirs non superposables dans la vie à différentes échelles biologiques\, avec plusieurs équipes travaillant aux niveaux moléculaire (Banreti)\, organique et organismique (Noselli\, Furthauer\, Lepage). La recherche sur les acides aminés D constitue un aspect central de la chiralité moléculaire. \nCet atelier offrira aux participants l’opportunité de : \n\nPartager les dernières avancées scientifiques et méthodologiques\,\nStimuler les collaborations interdisciplinaires\,\nFormer et soutenir les jeunes chercheurs dans ce domaine émergent.\n\nL’IDAR2026 est le seul forum international dédié aux D‑amino acids\, réunissant experts en biologie structurale\, chimie analytique\, enzymologie\, neurosciences\, immunologie et médecine translationnelle.
